Heading an hour west of Denmark, our next stop took us to the very beautiful (and very peaceful) fishing hamlet of Peaceful Bay. Aside from the caravan park and a small number of homes, there really isn’t much in the way of facilities at Peaceful Bay and it certainly lives up to its name.

The caravan park itself is a small independent park and lovely setting in the bush next to the beach. Enjoying the opportunity to drive on the beach again, we found a great little spot at the mouth of the river inlet to spend the days fishing, swimming and generally enjoying the beach.

Peaceful Bay is only a short (20 minute) drive from Walpole and the gateway to the Walpole Wilderness Area which takes in seven National Parks, nature reserves and forest conservation areas and occupies 363,000 hectares – amazing! We took the chance to explore some of the beautiful karri forests and see some of the ‘giants’ of the area.

I think Peaceful Bay will be remembered as our most successful fishing spot so far, with the boys catching around 14 Australian Salmon! Clearly we couldn’t eat that much fish so they kept four and we had a feast!

Peaceful Bay is also the time to say goodbye (for now) to the Sanders crew. We have been travelling with these guys from Point Drummond on the Erye peninsula and had lots of laughs along the way over the past two months. As our journeys take us on a different time line for a few months, it’s time for us to find our way on our own again and continue our journey along the west coast. Thankfully we have a fish feast to celebrate!
