We have been in W.A. for just over two weeks now and covered 650km since we arrived in Esperance. After such an amazing start at Cape Le Grand beaches, Esperance had a lot to live up to but it certainly did just that. Lots of fun exploring the surrounding beaches and it’s probably the only place we have come across so far where you could easily see yourself living there. Not sure if it was the colour of the water/ sand, amazing cliffs along the coastline or just the general vibe of the town but we certainly enjoyed our time in Esperance.

After leaving Esperance we took a short drive to a beach camp at Munglinup Beach. Small beach camp set up by the local council at the grand cost of $15 per night – awesome as there certainly don’t seem to be as many ‘free camps’ in W.A. as we enjoyed in S.A. Enjoyed the usual beach walk / shell collecting time and fishing before settling down for movie night.

Keeping with the ‘beach camp’ theme, we took a super bumpy and dusty track to Mason Bay where we managed to score a water front camp spot for a few nights. Fun kite time on both days but the temperature is certainly starting to drop outside of the water.

After Mason Bay, we skipped down to Bremer Bay and an amazing camp site where we could finally have camp fires and the kids were allowed to inflate the bouncy castle whenever they wanted to go on it – winner! Lovely surrounds to enjoy five nights in one spot and explore the local area. Bremer Bay is a sleepy little town really with only a small general store, post office, pharmacy and a little gift shop as far as amenities goes. There is however a brewery, pub and also the most random museum you will ever find complete with super lovely cafe. Clearly not going hungry or thirsty despite the low provisions in the actual shop!

Bremer Bay is known for being a great place to see Orcas in the wild between January and April and they run tours from the marina to see them offshore. We didn’t take the tour due to age limits on children allowed on the tour but we did enjoy some fun fishing time at the marina – Fin has found his new favourite hobby and had a lucky afternoon landing all kinds of different fish. Found a fun spot with some ‘Kiera waves’ and plenty of fun on the beach even in the threatening weather. I have now realised that my kettle will boil using the inverter in the car so I am super happy I can even have a cup of tea on the beach to warm me up 😂

Lots of fun in Bremer Bay but time to hit the road for Albany…and hopefully a car wash!
