Cape Le Grand

I remember a phone call with my brother, not long after the WA Premier had announced they were keeping WA borders closed indefinitely. At the time it was always mixed emotions – we were loving our time in SA but equally keen to get to WA for kiting season. I remember Paul saying that he always felt like SA was just part of the journey for us but WA was more the destination and to be honest, he was spot on. SA was an amazing (and super surprising) part of the journey but there has always been something special about the travels we have already done in WA that we were keen to get back to. Our first day trip out from Esperance to Cape Le Grand certainly didn’t disappoint!

The colour of the water is just incredible and the white sand just makes it one of those places that you can’t help but be amazed by. Found some fun little waves for the kids.

After the dramatic coastline of S.A, it’s time for W.A to show some of its own scale…. Check out the size of this rock!

Cape Le Grand National Park takes its name from one of the officers on board a French expedition which explored the area in the 1790’s. Many of the names around the area take their names from officers on the ship so we decided to take a hike up Frenchman’s Peak to check out the view from the top. It’s one of those walks where you go up…. Straight up mountain goat scramble style (kind of walk Kiera and Finlay like!)

Esperance is the kind of place you could explore for a long time. There is so much to see and do and a few days will never do it enough justice but it has certainly been a fun few days and awesome start to the adventures of W.A!
