The journey to the bottom of S.A

After a few fabulous days in the Grampians, we set off on our drive down to South Australia. The secret through the Grampians was stunning and I can imagine it would be easy to spend plenty of time exploring this area and walking trails.

The drive to S.A was relatively short compared with other days so far and only a four hour drive to get us down to Port MacDonnell – the southern most point of South Australia.

We have opted for another free camp for the night, setting up at the Lighthouse car park. We had the place to ourselves (not surprising as it was cloudy, windy and relatively cold compared with the last few days!). Not deterred by a windy night on a headland, we certainly enjoyed the view of the dramatic Limestone coast. It’s easy to understand why so many ships were wrecked in this area in the late 1800’s when you look at the very sharp rocks.

Woke up to a bright and sunny day so we have ventured out to explore some of the local highlights and we stumbled across Mount Schank – a dormant volcano which last erupted 5000 years ago. Pretty cool walk around the rim of the volcano.

Well… time to keep moving… where to next?!
