Wairo Beach

What can I say except the last 6 days have disappeared in a blur! After threatening storms and rain, we were blessed with 6 days of wall to wall sunshine for our week with the Taylors.

The camp site at Wairo Beach is certainly unique. The site has lots of small permanent cabins – all super lovely and it’s clear people who own them spend a lot of time there. The top end of the site has a row of cabins which can be rented for holiday stays – all old style buildings like ‘the village bakery’ or ‘the post office’. There is even the local servo with an old fuel pump outside. They are super quirky and look really comfortable for a short get away. As expected, the site had lots of groups camping together for NY celebrations. It was lovely to have the Taylor family only a short walk away on the camp site and the kids had lots of fun running between the two or acting as delivery drivers with Auntie Leanne’s bike!

Only a 45 minute drive south of Jervis Bay (thank you Kate for your tip on the correct pronunciation of JERvis!!). New Year’s Eve we took a drive up to see the very beautiful Hyams Beach. Glad we arrived in the morning as they were turning people away by the afternoon. We finished off the day with a kite back at the camp site – perfect way to end the year.

Wairo Beach has been a fantastic place to continue on the holiday fun from Christmas and welcome in the new year with family and lots of laughs. Time to pack up at get ready for the next adventure as we head inland and make our way over the next week towards South Australia.
