On the road

Well we are officially on the road! After five nights in the safety of Narrabeen campsite, it was officially time to hit the road. Our prep time at Narrabeen was awesome and we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather. After weeks and weeks of non stop rain, we were thankfully blessed with five days of wall to wall sun shine for our pack up days.

Fin and K enjoyed the novelty of going to school from the caravan for a few days and we even managed some post school play dates and fun in the water park.

After completing beginner level Tetris with the container, now it was time to test our skills getting everything into the van!! Clearly there is a certain level of dark magic involved with calculating van weight/ car weight and tow ball weight and it turns out we somehow have to lose 30kg from the car. I know my weight loss programs have been successful before but that may be a bit too much to ask! Adding weight to the van seems to be helpful so maybe I will offer to sleep in the van for the next leg of the journey?!

See you in 12 months Narrabeen

Starting off easy, we opted for a short drive for our first leg of the journey. Two and half hours south of Sydney, we are staying at the very lovely beachside town of Gerroa. We have visited Gerroa a few times but never stayed at the caravan park. Super cute little park, right on the beach with swimming pool and jumping pillow for the kids – happy days! Even more exciting, I found the super rare (outside of England) red currant jelly in the Gerringong IGA which went very nicely with our lamb for dinner. For day one of our epic adventure, I am calling today a success.
